Wow! The temps dropped from the 90s to the low 70s. Perfect mornings for a Walk in the park.
You didn't have to donate to join us. We love it when people walk arm in an with us. The encouragement it gives us is more important that you could imagine.
It's late so I'm going to try to get to sleep before 2am. That would be 2 times in the past 3 months. ARGHHH
The weather is breaking, FINALLY. Not so fast... But it's supposed to cook down before the Walk so I will leave the rest as it was.
...That means that you can Walk with us without getting heatstroke (I’m not a doctor so drink a lot of water and sit in the shade if that is a potential outcome).
We are just under 3 weeks away from the Walk. Walk Shirts (link below) are available and will get to you before the Walk if you order by 10/16.
If you are coming to town you can have them sent here and we will hold them for you. Our address is 1033 W. Bruce Ave., Gilbert AZ 85233.
I get so worried about donations, but last week I just lost a good friend to pancreatic cancer. That reminded me, again, that there are so many issues people face aside from my daily battle against ALS. Karen and I want you to feel comfortable giving where you feel led to donate.
We will welcome you on Team DougOuts with open arms. We still appreciate any donations towards ALSAZ which helps those of us who live (and suffer) with ALS in Arizona. ALL of your donations stay in Arizona. They will help ME and my friends.
I’ve been blessed/fortunate/unfortunate with a slow progressing version of ALS. I may look “healthy”, but let me tell you that it still has taken a lot of my body and it’s functions.
Additionally, I’ve known way to many other pALS who have died from this disease. Personally, our living expenses have gone up more than what an average family incurs and it’s been for a long period if time. This is an area where ALS Arizona does help.

Celebrate my 10 years fighting this monster and loving every single day that I get to do that. There have been some significant advances in these past 10 years. I’ve been directly involved with some of them as a patient and/or as an advisor, mentor or board member.
Thank you for your prayers and words of kindness. They truly mean a lot to Karen and me. We are truly blessed.

This summer was filled with ups and downs. We were gifted an Alaskan cruise through Tossin Away ALS. Just before the cruise, Karen’s mom, who has Alzheimer’s, was placed on hospice. A week after we got back from the cruise Doug was admitted to the hospital for double, fungal pneumonia. So you can see why we are playing catch-up.
You can help make this walk a special day for us, by joining us at Salt River Fields on 11/2/24. This is Doug’s 10th anniversary of his ALS diagnosis and your support of love is so appreciated!

The grounds are open at 8 a.m. and the walk starts at 9 a.m.
They will have parking attendants helping out. Be sure to check your maps before you leave your house on Saturday. There are always road closures on the weekend.
