Welcome to My Personal Page
This is my mom's Journey with ALS...
I was diagnosed with ALS Jan. 2006 and have gone from walking and driving, taking care of six children daily, house work and cooking to a powerchair and having others care for me and do all the work I once did. It is humbling to see that life goes on without you, but that is a fact of life. We can only live for today and let tomorrow take care of itself. We all live and die, I just have a better idea of how, or maybe not, either way life is short and sweet so live it like there is no tomorrow. Always praising Jesus for our salvation and each day of life you are given!
ALS needs awareness and I pray that my life helps bring the awareness needed and a CURE! Lou Gehrig died in 1941, before I was born, and still people don't know what ALS is. Thank you for helping me reach my Walk to Defeat ALS® fundraising goal! This is an exciting opportunity for us to work together to support those affected by Lou Gehrig's Disease and to spread awareness of the urgency to find treatments and a cure. Thanks to the "ICE BUCKET CHALLENGE" for so much awareness and so much more donations fundng more research and providing help for the "PALS" (Patents with ALS).
Please consider walking in honor of my mom. With your help, we will be able to make a difference in the lives of people affected by this disease. I encourage you get your friends, family, neighbors and coworkers involved!
Why We Need Your Help
Often referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of an ALS patient averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.
Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.
This crippling disease can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease though support is bringing researchers closer to an answer. In the mean time it costs an average of $250,000 a year to provide the care ALS patients need. Help make a difference and donate or join the walk today.
