Welcome to My Personal Page
Thank you for donating and helping me reach my ALS Walk fundraising goal! The Walk to End ALS raises funds to support those affected by ALS and to spread awareness of the urgency to find treatments and a cure.
This cause is near and dear to my heart for a very personal reason: My brother Beto, who goes by several nicknames, "Betito", "Beto-lin", and as of late, he's referred to himself as "La Cucaracha", the Cacaroach, has been battling ALS for the last 26 years. He was diagnosed in 1999, when he was 31 years old.
But seriously, he is one of the toughest guys I know. Aside from this disease, he has had his share of challenges and has chosen growth over giving in; he is a fighter and a warrior. By no means does he claim to be a perfect angel, and if you know him, you'll know that much. But he is absolutely resilient, and he lives his resiliency every single day!
I also want to point out the support his caregivers need; this disease affects not only the patient but all those in their lives. Beto's wife, Julie, has made great sacrifices to be there for him. Caregiving can take its toll on everyone. As well as all of those close to him, including my sister Catalina and her husband Jesus, my other brother Gerry, and his wife Angie. They all function as a team when needed. I have always lived far away, and I am grateful for all of them for their care and communication.
This year I have the priviledge of being able to be in Tucson for the ALS walk, I?m walking for him as well as to do my part to change the statistics. To bring help and hope to those living with the disease. To support the caregivers who help their loved ones fight this disease. To ensure that no one ever hears the words: ?You Have ALS? again!
The past few years have brought incredible advancements in ALS research, expanded access to care for people living with ALS, and enabled legislation that impacts the quality of life of people with ALS and their families.
But, we can?t stop now! The key to a cure starts with all of US. Please consider walking with me or making a donation to my team. With your help, we will be able to make a difference in the lives of people affected by this disease.
