Welcome to Unidos con Chepo's Page: Walking for a Fighter
Thank you for donating and helping me reach my ALS Walk fundraising goal! The Walk to End ALS raises funds to support those affected by ALS and to spread awareness of the urgency to find treatments and a cure.
On September 22, 2026, our world changed when our dad, Jose "Chepo" Cabezas, was diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). If you know Chepo, you know he has never been one to back down from a challenge. He is a true fighter, and we formed our team, Unidos con Chepo, to fight right alongside him.
For 40 years, he worked hard as a dedicated electrician, keeping the lights on for so many. Beyond his career, he has spent the last 15 years sober in AA, dedicating his life to helping others find their own path to recovery and building a strong community around him. He has given so much of himself to others, and now it is our turn to lift him up.
He is the bedrock of our beautiful family—a devoted husband to his wife of 37 years, a loving father to 3 children, a proud grandfather to 7 grandkids, and a dog-dad to 2 beloved pups.
ALS is a devastating disease, but Chepo's spirit remains unbroken. We invite you to join us in representing him and supporting his fight. We have set a starting fundraising goal of $1,000, and every single donation or registration brings us closer to making a meaningful impact.
How You Can Help:
Sign up to walk: Join our team, Unidos con Chepo, in person for the ALS Walk on November 7.
Donate to our fundraiser: Help us hit our $1,000 goal to fund vital research and care.
Walk from home: If you can't make it in person, register as a virtual walker and walk in honor of Chepo from your own neighborhood.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS can strike anyone, and presently there is no known cause or cure.
That’s why I’m walking. To change the statistics. To bring help and hope to those living with the disease. To support the caregivers who help their loved one fight this disease. To ensure that no one ever hears the words: “You Have ALS” again!
The past few years have brought incredible advancements in ALS research, expanded access to care for people living with ALS, and enabled legislation that impacts the quality of life of people with ALS and their families.
But, we can’t stop now! The key to a cure starts with all of US. Please consider walking with me or making a donation to my team. With your help, we will be able to make a difference in the lives of people affected by this disease.
Thank you for your love, your prayers, and your unwavering support. Let's show Jose "Chepo" Cabezas that nobody fights alone!
